2<strong>Council</strong> policiesThis <strong>Sports</strong> <strong>Facility</strong> <strong>Development</strong> <strong>Plan</strong> builds on and develops current and previouspolicies that together define the direction and objectives of <strong>Council</strong>.<strong>Council</strong> <strong>Plan</strong> (2011–2015)The <strong>Council</strong> <strong>Plan</strong> outlines <strong>Council</strong>’s key strategic objectives and strategic directionsfor the next four <strong>years</strong>. It reflects <strong>Council</strong>’s continuing commitment and drive tocreate a municipality of which residents can be justifiably proud and where theyprosper and succeed in a supported and connected community space.The focus of this <strong>Plan</strong> continues to be the revitalisation of town centres and urbanvillages, improving governance, enhancing facilities and infrastructure in the <strong>City</strong>,strengthening our community, and continuing to foster pride in <strong>Brimbank</strong>. The planalso recognises a need to consolidate investment in the wellbeing of thecommunity, and places an emphasis on community strengthening and capacitybuilding.The <strong>Council</strong> <strong>Plan</strong> continues to recognise the distinct character of the specific areaswithin the <strong>Brimbank</strong> municipality, and commits to a vision of accessibility,cleanliness, safety, prosperity, and connectedness for <strong>Brimbank</strong>’s five districts andtheir town centres and urban villages: Deer Park, Keilor, St Albans, Sunshine, andSydenham.The <strong>Council</strong> <strong>Plan</strong> also recognises a need to consolidate investment in the wellbeingof the community, and places an emphasis on community strengthening andcapacity building.<strong>Brimbank</strong> Community <strong>Plan</strong> (2008–2030)The <strong>Brimbank</strong> Community <strong>Plan</strong> was developed following extensive communityengagement and provides a 20-year strategic direction for the community and<strong>Council</strong>. This strategic direction has informed <strong>Council</strong>’s medium to long-termplanning priorities through a shared community vision and identified key priorities,and through the preparation of local district plans to increase partnershipdevelopment, community connections, and community strengthening at a locallevel.SPORTS FACILITY DEVELOPMENT PLAN12
