Strategy 1.1: Optimise the use of existing sports facilitiesin BrimbankOne of the most cost effective and practical options in addressing the gaps insporting facility provision is to optimise the use of existing facilities. There arecurrently sporting fields and courts within the municipality that are not used to anoptimal level. A common reason for this is that the facilities in their currentcondition or level of development do not support optimal use, i.e. they lack or haveinadequate lighting or poor quality pavilions and surfaces.Measures to optimise fields and courts allocation and to encourage improved levelsof use by existing clubs are described further in this section (6.5). Identifiedprojects for optimising use of sports fields and courts are identified below andincluded in further detail within the facility development plan. (Refer to Section 7)Priority actionsThis plan provides opportunities for Council to work collaboratively with State andFederal Government, sporting associations, local clubs, and local communities onessential projects to create new facilities and to redevelop existing sporting andrecreation infrastructure. There are some very poor quality sporting pavilions that limit the use of existingreserves. Upgrading these pavilions would help to optimise the use of theassociated sporting fields.
