<strong>Sports</strong> club consultation was conducted as part of the development of this <strong>Plan</strong>. Thekey findings of the consultation were as follows:The majority of clubs reported that more than three-quarters of their membershipbase was from a multicultural background.Fifty-nine percent of the clubs indicated that they offered at least one program tospecialised groups including:people with disabilitieswomenmastersculturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) groupsmothers’ programs (including mums and bubs)low socio-economic status (low-SES)All clubs offered some type of training to their members, including:coaching coursesfirst aid certificationresponsible service of alcohol (RSA) certificationfood handling coursesscoring trainingwork experience positionsNearly two thirds (62.3%) of the respondent clubs have current business plans inplace. The top three strategic priorities identified within the business plans werereaching membership targets, facility development and targeting people withdisabilities.Sport growth trendsVictoriaThere is a lack of data available on <strong>Brimbank</strong> sports club memberships. This makesit difficult to make projections on future player numbers. For the purpose ofidentifying current and future sporting facility needs in <strong>Brimbank</strong>, the figuresdeveloped are based on state trends from 2001–20<strong>10</strong>.The Australian <strong>Sports</strong> Commission and the state and territory government agenciesresponsible for sport and recreation jointly undertake the annual Exercise,Recreation and Sport Survey (ERASS). The first survey was conducted in 2001 andthe latest in 2011.
