The current and projected demand for indoor courts to cater for netball andbasketball indicates a need to upgrade existing indoor courts. In addition there is aneed to provide courts that offer opportunities for people to participate in othersports such as volleyball, badminton, table tennis and futsal. The following upgradeis required:significant redevelopment of the Keilor Basketball & Netball Stadium to includeadditional courts that are lined for a range of sports including netball, basketball,volleyball, badminton, table tennis and futsal(NOTE: REFER TO FIGURE 9 FOR THE LOCATION OF ABOVE PROJECTS AND SECTION 7 – FACILITY DEVELOPMENTPLAN FOR MORE DETAILS ON THE ABOVE PROJECTS).Allocation of facilitiesIt is important that facilities are optimally used and allocated to users fairly andequitably. It is also important that the amount of time the facilities are used fordoes not exceed their capacity. It is therefore proposed to:develop a Facilities Allocations Policy Framework for sports facilities that will deliverfair, equitable and consistent outcomes.implement a new Fees and Charges Policy for sports clubsManagement of facilitiesThere is high demand from other non-sporting community groups for access tocommunity facilities. <strong>Sports</strong> pavilions will be considered as community facilities.While their principle purpose is supporting community sports activity, they alsohave the potential to accommodate community, cultural and leisure activities thatare not sport related.<strong>Brimbank</strong> sports pavilions will be designed and developed to maximise multi-useopportunities through the inclusion of, at a minimum, a community room. Localcommunity groups and resident sports clubs could use this room. The <strong>Facility</strong><strong>Development</strong> Standards outlined in Table 9 of this document include the provisionof community meeting rooms in sports pavilions. It is therefore proposed to:review all leases and licenses for sports clubs and community groups who currentlyuse sports facilities to encourage multi-use and shared use of <strong>Brimbank</strong> facilities.Maintenance of facilitiesIt is important that sports clubs contribute to the maintenance of the facilities theyuse by way of a fair fees and charges policy.
