Local Area 4: Deer Park districtArea 4 comprises the small areas of Albanvale, Cairnlea, Deer Park and Derrimut.PopulationThe district housed approximately 26,376 residents in 2006. By 2021 thepopulation is expected to increase by more than 12,800 people to 39,225 (anaverage increase of 2.68% per annum over 15 <strong>years</strong>).Although the district is expected to have an increase of over 4,600 householdsbetween 2006 and 2021, the average household’s size is expected to decline from3.03 to 2.93 residents by 2021.The largest resident age group was 30–34 year olds in 2006, with 2,302 residents.By 2021, the largest resident age group will be 35–39 year olds, with 3,033persons.DiversityThere are similar proportions of residents born overseas (43.9%) and from a non-English speaking background (40.5%) to <strong>Brimbank</strong> (43.4% and 40.3%respectively). The number of district residents born overseas and from non–Englishspeaking countries increased by over 40% between 2001 and 2006Of residents born overseas, the top five countries of birth were: Vietnam (<strong>10</strong>.0%),Philippines (4.4%), Malta (3.3%), Former Republic of Macedonia (2.0%), and Italy(1.9%).Of residents born in a non–English speaking country, people from Vietnam were thelargest group represented, and make up <strong>10</strong>% of the total population, or 2,530people.
