While such facilities are used by Brimbank’s sportingassociations, clubs, and schools for formal competitions and training, they areimportant for all residents and community groups, who use them for informalgames and play. It is critical that these facilities are well planned, well managed,appropriately located, and satisfy the needs of the Brimbank community. Brimbankresidents place a high value on sport and sporting achievement. Increasingparticipation in sport and recreation is a key priority for Brimbank City Council.The Brimbank City Council’s Sports Facility Development Plan explores new ways tocreate quality sport and recreation facilities. The aim of the plan is to give people ofall ages and abilities every opportunity to participate in the activities they love. Thisincludes giving the entire community an opportunity to be involved by focusing onaccess issues for traditionally disadvantaged groups, and by providing facilities thatencourage greater participation by females.New and updated sport and recreation facilities are an important part of gettingmore people, more active, more often.
