Evaluation• Island communities. The project intends to make a contribution to national development andbiodiversity conservation through enhanced marine park management andsustainable island development through a more integrated planningapproach and in parallel building the capacity of the marine parkmanagement system including its stakeholders through a range ofengagement activities including: establishing community consultationmechanisms, cooperative establishment, entrepreneurship training, viavoluntary monitoring - Reef Check, enforcement, shifting mindsets andalternative livelihoods, accommodation and dive operator good practisetraining etc.As this project is a GEF/UNDP funded project there is an implication that itwill contribute sub-regionally – this will be from lesson sharing from theproject. As this project site area adjoins the Coral Triangle programme area(a coral conservation sub regional priority) the learning will be relevant tothis wider programme, and potentially to other integrated coral conservationprogrammes beyond the sub-region.To ensure this happens, systematic efforts to collect lessons and identifylearning will need to be undertaken for the remainder of the project.Signage at Pulau Tioman jetty36
