It might wellsuffice for exposition <strong>of</strong> <strong>Christian</strong> thought atan earlier period <strong>of</strong> Bible interpretation whenthe sole object was to set forth the transcendentgr<strong>and</strong>eur <strong>of</strong> Christ's works, to representa miracle as " a violation <strong>of</strong> the laws <strong>of</strong> nature,"meaning thereby to concentrate on thefact that equally by its character, <strong>and</strong> bypr<strong>of</strong>ession <strong>of</strong> the agent, it was a work whichordinary power was insufficient to explain.By pwity <strong>of</strong> reasoning, it may equally be allowedthat a legitimate course is followed,
