Forfacts must science ever search; with nothingshort of ascertained facts can it be satisfied;but, having found them, it must classify andharmoiiize, seeking for the laws which regulatetheir occurrence, and for the causes bywhich they may be rationally explained.On the other hand, from the sphere ofreligion must ever arise a powerful impulseto seek harmony of conviction with the verifiedresults of scientific research. This maybe expected to prove a more urgent andpractical necessity than that which operatesfrom within the region of science. The beliefin a personal Deity, as the source of alldependent existence, and the controller of all,leads by a necessity both intellectual andspiritual to a search for order in all things,and a harmony of the universe.
