Nº 320S Basic OperationNoteThe Nº 31, Nº 31.5, Nº 37, and Nº 39 remote controls can beused to control Nº 320S master volume level. This commandis available over IR (not Link connections). Before using oneof these remote controls to adjust Nº320S master volumelevel, make sure the digital transport setup menu volumecontrol parameter is set to fixed.Remote Control OverviewThe Nº 320S remote control provides full operation of the Nº 320S.Unless otherwise specified, the numbered items in the CommandOverview section (next page) indicate the commands the remotecontrol performs during normal operating mode. Refer to Section3: Setup Menu and Section 4: Controls & Modes for informationabout other commands the remote control performs.OperationConsiderationsThe remote control requires special consideration during operationto ensure optimal performance. Pay particular attention to thebulleted items below and to other precautions that appearthroughout this user guide. The bulleted items that begin beloware not applicable when the Nº 320S is using the rear panel irinput connector.2-15• DO eliminate obstructions between the remote control IRtransmitter and the front panel display IR receiver.• DO position the remote control within ±45˚ of a line that isperpendicular to the front panel display IR receiver. At moresevere angles, attempt to “bounce” the remote control signaloff a wall or another surface so the signal is received at the IRreceiver at a reasonable angle.• DO position the remote control within 17 feet (5m) of thefront panel display IR receiver. If the Nº 320S is placed inside aglass cabinet, tinted glass will reduce the remote control range.• DO replace the remote control batteries as needed. Refer toRemote Control Batteries (page 1-6) for additional information.• DO NOT obstruct the front panel display IR receiver.• DO NOT expose the front panel display IR receiver tostrong sunlight, halogen light, or fluorescent light. This cancause IR reception to become unreliable.(continued)
