I. General discussion<br />
A. Achievement Test Debrief<br />
1. General agreement that no new surprises for math, science could be difficult and teachers<br />
will be awaiting results<br />
2. COSI has had a dramatic increase in school visits due to OAT preparation<br />
B. COSMOS Planning Retreat May 16<br />
1. All CCC participants are invited<br />
2. Planning for next year’s Inquiry Series, Symposium, and other outreach activities<br />
C. Regional activities for the summer<br />
1. REAL, RIPE,TEAMS, DREAMS Calendar<br />
2. DREAMS- Reminder to please choose 5 amazing people to recruit from your schools<br />
3. Cognitive Coaching (Beginning of August)- Eight day training, spread over two years. Will<br />
be a feature of DREAMS, may be open to others<br />
4. Question was raised---how does NWO/COSMOS advertise for these opportunities? Modes<br />
of communication and best means to share information were discussed (when possible,<br />
send to a specific teacher or use school contact to disseminate materials)<br />
II. Working items<br />
A. Professional Development Needs for <strong>2007</strong>-08<br />
1. Brainstormed lists of PD needs for next year<br />
a) Differentiated curriculum<br />
b) Research into best practices for science & math<br />
c) Modeling for Science<br />
d) Elementary math and science<br />
e) 4-9 licensed individuals need math and/or science content<br />
f ) Effective incorporation of technology in math and science<br />
g) Curriculum Topic Study to help teachers understand content and developmental<br />
appropriateness of concepts in grade level indicators<br />
h) Value added/Layered Curriculum/Partnership with special and regular education
