Appendix D: Larabee Mini-Grant: The Physics of Cell Phones and<br />

Wireless Communication cont.<br />

The two-day workshop will be hosted by St. John’s Jesuit High School, 5901 Airport Hwy, Toledo,<br />

Ohio and has been partially funded by a grant from NOW/COSMOS (Northwest Ohio Center of<br />

Excellence, the Center of Science and Mathematics Education: Opportunities for Success).<br />

Upon successful completion of the program, participants will have the right to borrow the set of<br />

equipment and student books (valued at near $2000) to use in their own classrooms. All teachers<br />

are requested to participate in an evaluation of the unit when implemented and participate in a<br />

presentation at a COSMOS symposium.<br />

Benefits to Participants:<br />

Upon successful completion of the workshop, participants will have the right to borrow the set of<br />

equipment and student books (valued at near $2000) to use in their own classrooms.<br />

Participants will receive one-to-one assistance as they implement the curriculum.<br />

Earn CEUs<br />

Requirements of Participants:<br />

Teachers who would like to participate in the workshop need to submit an application and $200 or a<br />

letter from their principal committing $200 towards the cost of materials by June 1, <strong>2007</strong>.<br />

Participants will also need to pay their own travel, meals and hotel expenses.<br />

Participants are requested to participate in an evaluation of the unit when implemented and participate<br />

in a presentation at a NWO/COSMOS Symposium (<strong>cosmos</strong>.bgsu.edu)<br />
