Or again <strong>the</strong> man whosees <strong>the</strong> letters which he reads but not <strong>the</strong>paper <strong>on</strong> which <strong>the</strong>y are written. The objectsare C<strong>on</strong>sciousness and forms. But <strong>the</strong>ordinary pers<strong>on</strong> sees <strong>the</strong> objects in <strong>the</strong>universe but not Siva in <strong>the</strong>se forms. Siva is<strong>the</strong> Being assuming <strong>the</strong>se forms and <strong>the</strong>C<strong>on</strong>sciousness seeing <strong>the</strong>m. That is to say,Siva is <strong>the</strong> background underlying both <strong>the</strong>subject and <strong>the</strong> object.” (Talk No. 450)Whe<strong>the</strong>r it is a beggar or a king or a worm,<strong>the</strong> Supreme Divinity is full and equal in all<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>m.
