R col (m -1 )Chapter 7Filterability test were carried out in order to determine the influence of the differentPAC dosages on the resistance to filtration of the different fractions studied (cake, poreblocking and colloidal). These tests were performed 24 hours after the beginning of theexperiments. The fraction most influenced by PAC dosage was the colloidal one. In figure7.5 can be observed that the resistance to filtration of colloidal fraction diminished with theaddition of PAC. Nevertheless the amount of PAC seemed not to influence this diminution.Therefore an optimum PAC dose of 1.5 g·L -1 was determined. These batch experiments wereperformed after 24 hours, without feeding the bottles. As can be observed on figures 7.6and 7.7, the addition of PAC in to the sludge led to a slight diminution of SRF and aremarkable decrease of the resistance to filtration of the colloidal fraction.184
