Much of the town’s economy depends on theRound-Up. He and his business partner own oneof the few local businesses that defy the realityof rodeo culture—Get Wit It Detail, a car detailingshop. It’s the only Black-owned business in town.Leon attributes their success to providing aservice no one else offers. “They only support GetWit It Detail because they want their cars done,and they don’t want to do it.”With so little to do in Pendleton, most of Leon’sfamily moved to Portland decades ago. He visitsoften but has no intentions of moving. He’s usedto being “the only one.”127
