3.2 EDUCATIONAL ATTAINMENT BY BACKGROUND CHARACTERISTICSTables 3.2.1 and 3.2.2 present an overview of the relationship between the respondent’s level ofeducation and other background characteristics. Table 3.2.1 shows that younger people are bettereducated than older people; while 19 percent of women age 15-24 have attended high school, thecorresponding proportion for women age 45-49 is only 5 percent. Urban women, women in Manzini andHhohho, and women in the highest wealth quintile are better educated than other women. Among urbanwomen, 24 percent have completed secondary education compared with 16 percent of their ruralcounterparts. Also, women in urban areas are four times more likely to have attained tertiary education(16 percent) compared with women in rural areas (4 percent).
