Maurizio Bocchi (Parma, 1950) received a degree in architecture from the University of Florence in 1976. He<br />

has worked until 2008 as a manager for Parma's city government, focussing on urban planning and park design<br />

and renovation. His projects for the city of Parma include the restoration of a historic residential building in<br />

the city centre (1986); the restoration of Palazzo Pigorini, now an exhibition venue (1996); the restoration of<br />

Palazzo del Governatore (2008); and the drafting of the Disciplina particolareggiata per il centro storico di<br />

Parma (regulations for the restoration and maintenance of historic buildings in Parma's city centre) (1978). He<br />

is the designer of many of the city's parks, including Parco Nord (1990) and Parco Falcone Borsellino (1992); he<br />

has also carried out the renovation of the Giardini di San Paolo (1988). He has worked as head of Parma's Ente<br />

Scuola Edile (masonry school board), where he was also a teacher. He has written the book L'immagine della<br />

città storica (Electa, 1985).<br />

Alessandro Vitale (Parma, 1956) received a degree in agricultural science from the University of Bologna. Since<br />

1982 he has worked as a technical officer for the Department of parks of the city of Parma. He is in charge of<br />

the design and maintenance of urban green areas. He has written a plan for the maintenance of Parma's green<br />

areas that has rationalized the use of public resources and has generated a great quality improvement in this<br />

public service. He has directed many renovations of the city's green areas and has designed, and directed the<br />

construction of, new parks, flowerbeds, street furniture and school gardens. He is also responsible for the<br />

enforcing of the city's regulations on green areas and collaborates with architecture and engineering firms for<br />

the surveying of existing green areas and the creation of new ones.<br />

In 1999 he worked as a botanical consultant in the renovation of the Giardino Ducale, acting as operations manager<br />

for green areas. In 2006 he wrote the chapter "Le colonne del giardino: storia e governo della struttura<br />

vegetale" in Carlo Mambriani's book Il Giardino di Parma: da delizia ducale a patrimonio collettivo di arte e<br />

natura (Diabasis, 2006).<br />
