28 MINUTES O F T H E WORK O F T H E J U RY TORSANLORENZO INTERNATIONAL PRIZE 2009 At 10,30 a.m., on the 27th of March 2009 at the Congress Centre of Torsanlorenzo Gruppo Florovivaistico, the following members of the Jury are present: KAZUO IWAMURA (UIA) ROSA GRENA KLIASS (IFLA) ANGELA DYE (ASLA) LARS NYBERG (EFLA) ELEONORE COURT (FEAP) RICCARDO PISANTI (CONAF) ANNALISA CALCAGNO MANIGLIO (AIAPP) LUCA STORONI (CNAPPC) CAROLE SMITH (TORSANLORENZO INFORMA) MARIO MARGHERITI The Jury decides to accept all the submitted projects. The members elected as Chair of the Jury: LARS NYBERG. At 11,20 a.m. the Jury proceeds to examine the projects and records their votes on the sheets. Following the sequence of votes, the following projects are the winners: SECTION A - LANDSCAPE DESIGN IN TRANSFORMATION OF THE TERRITORY Actions for environment restoration, renewal and recovery 1st Prize: 9 A - CAMÌ DELS CORRALS – MANRESA - SPAIN This design is the perfect combination of architecture, history and landscape. The information was presented by photographs, plans and sketches but without words on the presentation panels. This satisfied the judges as the choice of the above was excellent. 2nd Prize: 44 A - LOTUS LAKE WETLAND PARK – TIELING CITY – LIAONING PROVINCE - CHINA This project showed a good understanding of the problems. The analysis was good. Honorary mention: 34 A – HET LANKHEET – HAAKSBERGEN – THE NETHERLANDS An interesting solution to a public space that cleanses the water while creating a public garden. SECTION B - URBAN GREEN SPACES The quality of projects in cities: squares, neighbourhood green spaces, urban and private parks 1st Prize: 28 B – HOSPITAL UNIVERSITARIO RIO HORTEGA – VALLADOLID - SPAIN The judges were very struck with the use of colour not just for itself but for the physiological effect this could have on the patients in this hospital project. The elements were clear and easy to understand. 2nd Prize: 38 B – FREEDOM PARK – TSHWANE – SOUTH AFRICA This design was appreciated by the judges as an urbanizing element of a cultural expression on the landscape. It was a very well presented project. Honorary mention: 39 B – NATURAL PARK RENACA NORTE – COASTAL ROAD RENACA-CONCÓN, Vth REGION CHILE A sensitive site solution dealt with connection in a sensitive way so the technology didn't impinge on the landscape.
M I N U T E S OI FN TRH OE DJU OZ BI OS NO E F / T HGE I UJ UR RI AY 29 Honorary mention: 37 B – PARC CENTRAL – KIRCHBERG - LUXEMBURG An interpretation clearly defining the relationship between the urban site, the garden and the greater landscape. Re-cycling the materials that were present on the site. Very well detailed. A classic Renaissance interpretation of a site. SECTION C: PRIVATE GARDENS IN CITIES AND SUBURBS 1st Prize: 12 C – LA JERE GRIERÉ GARDEN, LE BARROUX, CARPENTRAS, PROVENCE, FRANCE An interesting juxtaposition of textures. This was a garden with a strong planting plan. 2nd Prize: 23 C – LA CAMPAGNA SUL MARE – POTENZA PICENA (MC) - ITALY A classic use of borrowing the landscape surrounding the garden and attempting to highlight this further by the design of the garden to not clash with the landscape beyond. Envelopes with secret data are opened and verified and the winners officially declared. The Jury confirms the winners.
