Mariachiara Pozzana has opened the Architettura e Paesaggio Buro in Florence in 1996, after having worked
seventeen years for the Italian Governement in the Soprintendenza ai Beni Ambientali e Architettonici di
Firenze. Working in the Pratolino Park restoration at the beginning of the eighties, she decided to specialize
herself on garden design and landscape architecture . In 1998 she won with an international group the competition
for the Venaria Reale park (Torino) restoration. And following this work she worked from 2000 to 2007
in the Bardini Garden restoration. Then she designed many gardens in Tuscany and Italy, and since 2005 she
has been working in the new garden for the Cassa di Risparmio di Firenze. In 2006 she (with a group) won the
competition for the Giardini del Passeggio in Lodi, project, and in 2007 she was consultant for the Vilnius
Municipality for the Bernardini park restoration inside the historic town which is Unesco world heritage.
She is both designer and teacher: she held courses in Genova (Scuola di Specializzazione in Architettura del
paesaggio in the ’90) , Pisa, and recently in Catania (master Internazionale in Architettura del paesaggio), and
since the beginning of the ’90, she held lessons in Versailles, Jardins historiques, patrimoine et paysage .
In 1993 she founded the Centre of Studies in Garden and Landscape, at the Università Internazionale dell’Arte
di Firenze, where she organises seminars and one year course in garden and landscape conservation.
She has written in 1989 Materia e cultura dei giardini storici (Alinea), in 1990 Il giardino dei Frutti, (Ponte alle
Grazie), in 1996 Giardini storici principi e tecniche della conservazione (Alinea) , in l 2001 Giardini di Firenze
e della Toscana guida completa (Giunti italian and english edition), in 2008 Toscana Guida al paesaggio
(Giunti-Regione Toscana).
She is consultant of the European Institut of cultural Itineraries (Lussemburgo) , Socio corrispondente of the
Accademia dei Georogofili, ICOMOS and AIAPP member. She received the Palmes Academiques from the France
Gouvernement for her cultural collaboration with the France Institutions.
