MANUAL OF THE INDEPENDENT COUNTERTERRORIST 139
company’s Sigma Series TM which sells for a couple
of hundred dollars less.
While not as adaptable as the M&P
firearms, the Sigmas offer high-round (14 to 16)
capacity in either .40 S&W or 9mm. Finally, I
propose the Allied Forces models which have been
ordered by the United States Army Security
Assistance Command (USASAC) for the
Afghanistan National Police and Border Patrol.
These are the handguns that are offered within the
Disaster Ready Kits of which we’ve already
discussed and sell for about $450 separately.
From the “Is that contraption really a
freakin’ pistol?” department, Bushmaster
Firearms (www.bushmaster.com) offers a trio
called the Carbon 15 Pistol offered in the same
.223/5.56mm rifle cartridge as the M-16/AR-15
assault rifles, but in chopped down format. The
benefit here being the penetrating power of the
.223 with the support of a thirty-round magazine.
Obviously the pistol is still a bit bulky for
concealment and the magazine would be best left
unattached for the same reason, but if you ever
had the need for quick placement of a rifle bullet,
you might consider this option. They also offer a
9mm version but, personally, I’d rather carry a
S&W or H&K and learn to swap clips faster for the
same amount of money. In the concealed-carry
role, it would be far easier to shoot off the first
fourteen or so rounds and then change magazines
as it would be to bring the Carbon 15 9mm around
to bear and then have to slap in the magazine
before firing can commence.
