Guantanamo Bay detainees. Once we elevate
terrorists to the human level than we humanize
their actions.
I am not denying the role of hate here in
making it easier to vanquish our enemies. 8 Nor am
I denying my own role in “dehumanizing” these
thugs for the same result. 9 I merely offer that hate
is simply another side of the coin on which rests
love and I love America so much that I hate
anyone messing with her or her citizens. Period.
So I have no qualms, say, of taking out terrorists
before they have a chance to plot, plan, or prepare
for our extinction. Or, as the Catechism of the
Catholic Church (Image Books/Doubleday) so
eloquently states:
“Nor is it necessary for salvation that a man omit
the act of moderate self-defense to avoid killing
the other man, since one is bound to take more
care of one’s own life than of another’s.” [2264]
“Moderate self-defense” to me, is a simple
bullet to the bastard’s head and I, personally, see
no problem with facing my Maker on the subject.
If the terrorist hadn’t come at me, my argument
would be, then he’d still be alive today. End of
discussion. I’ll gladly face the fires of hell for
something that I did but I’ll be damn if I’m going
to fry for what others have made me do.
People, our lives aren’t ours; our nation
isn’t ours; our freedoms aren’t ours; if we allow
people to take them away from us unopposed.
Everything within our society, from our tornado
sirens to our police and fire departments on up
