SHOTGUNS
Let’s cut to the chase. Shotguns serve one
purpose – to blow big holes through things at close
range. Oh, I know, fowl hunters will cry foul but
you can’t eat pheasant if you just ate lead. There
are people out there – bad people – who are
growing quite accustomed to seeing handguns but
nearly everyone understands the significance of a
12 gauge being leveled towards their chest.
Furthermore, one does not have to be particularly
accurate when using a shotgun – a decided
advantage when missing may mean your life.
Unfortunately, most commercially available
shotguns are designed specifically for hunting.
Still, there are two practical options which I’d like
to recommend. The first is FN Herstal’s (www.
fnhusa.com) Tactical Police Shotgun TM which
comes with a recommended C-More Systems TM
reflex sight and an adjustable stock. Its
interchangeable choke and 7+1 round capacity (18”
barrel) are more than adequate to stop any closequarters
threat.
The second option is Remington Arms’
(www.remington.com) Model 870 tactical
shotgun, available with a variety of stocks, barrels,
and magazine extenders. Should you demand even
more for your money, I always recommend a visit
to the good people at Armament Services
International (www.autoweapons.com). If it can be
imagined, they will no doubt have it.
