expanding. The round also was designed to
enhance feed in auto pistols.
The Glaser Safety Slug is designed for use in
highly-populated urban settings where overpenetration
is a serious issue. It, too, contains a
round ball nose but its jacket shrouds a
compressed core of #6 or #12 shot that ensures
immediate dispersal of the bullet’s energy within
the intended target thereby incapacitating the
creep with “immediate shock and trauma.” Being a
low-recoil design, rapid follow-up shots are easier
should they ever be required.
If I were in a land where the local laws
permitted me to protect myself at all costs, I would
probably find myself armed as thus: a Wildey .475
Wildey Magnum Survivor Guardsmen with an 8”
barrel in my left shoulder holster, a Bushmaster
Carbon 15 in .223 resting in a right shoulder
holster, and a H&K Mark 23 in .45 ACP tucked
into the small of my back.
I would use the Wildey to take out
immediate threats from the medium-range
perspective, buying myself time – should the need
arise – to throw a clip into the Bushmaster Carbon
15 which would give me sufficient firepower to
penetrate all but the most discriminating body
armor.
On the other hand, were I to be involved
within a close-quarters, highly-populated
environment I would use my H&K – loaded with
Glazer Safety Slugs – to take out threatening
personnel. Three guns might be a bit much – for
some – but if indigenous laws were on my side…
