There are a few sniper rifles on the market<br />

that I’d recommend, though there are dozens of<br />

quality alternatives. As always, you need to be<br />

informed, educated, and discretionary in your<br />

selection of any firearm. When failure means the<br />

loss of life, you cannot skimp.<br />

My first selection is the Tactical Rifles’<br />

and true U.S. Marine Corps rifle. Standard in the<br />

.308 (7.62 NATO) caliber, this rifle is ideal for<br />

targets less than one thousand yards in distance. It<br />

comes in a variety of options suitable for your<br />

particular body and shooting style. Tactical offers<br />

½ inch 100 yard accuracy guaranteed. In other<br />

words, you can consistently take out a penny<br />

across the full length of a football field.<br />

That kind of accuracy deserves a good rifle<br />

scope and I suggest two of the best. My first choice<br />

would almost certainly be a Nightforce<br />

(www.nightforceoptics.com) 5.5-22 x 50 NXS. This<br />

scope offers a 50mm objective and from 5.5 to 22<br />

power magnification, enough to zero in on a<br />

hostage-taker’s second or third thoracic vertebra<br />

(the spine just above the shoulder blades) in order
