Appendix B: OIG Recommendations In accordance with the provisions of the Inspector General Act, one of the key duties of OIG is to provide to FHFA recommendations that promote the transparency, efficiency, and effectiveness of the agency’s operations and aid in the prevention and detection of fraud, waste, or abuse. Figure 29 (see page 85) summarizes OIG’s formal recommendations that were made, pending, or closed during the reporting period.
