Niemand strebt nach einem Leben ohne Freude, also
reist man nicht, ohne in einem Gasthaus einzukehren.
Vielleicht steht auch genau deswegen das berühmteste
Wirtshaus der Welt in München: das Hofbräuhaus.
Damit man beim Besuch der südlichsten Metropole
Deutschlands auf keinen Fall die Lebensfreude verpasst.
Oder vielleicht entstanden auch genau deswegen über
den Bierkellern, die im 19. Jahrhundert entlang des
Isarhochufers angelegt worden waren, unter schattenspendenden
Kastanien die ersten Biergärten. Ihre
Tradition hat sich seit 200 Jahren erhalten, die größten
Biergärten Bayerns – und somit der Welt – findet man
noch heute mitten im Stadtgebiet!
München bietet aber auch viele weitere Möglichkeiten,
Gemütlichkeit im Freien zu erleben. Überall finden
sich Tische und Stühle auf Gehwegen und Plätzen,
die zum kulinarischen Verweilen einladen, selbst an
Wintertagen. Sobald die ersten Sonnenstrahlen Wärme
spenden, findet in München Gastronomie draußen
statt. Sehen und Gesehen werden ist dabei sicher die
nicht unwesentlichste Triebfeder der Münchner.

Nobody wants a life without joy, and so nobody travels
without stopping somewhere for a bite. Perhaps that
is why the world’s most famous tavern is in Munich:
the Hofbräuhaus – so that nobody forgets the joy of
life when visiting.
Perhaps that is also why the beer cellars were built
beneath the high banks of the Isar in the 19th century,
and under the shade of the chestnut trees, the first
beer gardens. Their tradition has thrived for 200 years
now, and the biggest of Bavaria’s beer gardens – and
therefore also the biggest in the world – are still to be
found in the centre of town!
Munich also offers many other ways to enjoy relaxing
outdoors. There are chairs and tables everywhere
on the footpaths and squares, even in the winter. As
soon as the first rays of sunshine start warming things
up, Munich eats outside. After all, that is where you
are most likely to see and be seen, which is without
doubt not the least of the reasons for a Münchner to
do something - anything.

Nothing in the world combines the useful so well with
the enjoyable as food. Good food is not only important
for survival, it also means conviviality. People from all
over the globe meet to eat together, and that is also
true in Munich.
Particularly enjoyable is when one has the choice of
styles. There are no limits to them in Munich either.
