Programme components<br />

The Tayssir programme divided the targeted population<br />

(served by 266 schools) into 4 groups:<br />

• a group of 81 schools which received unconditional<br />

transfers distributed either to the mother (in 40 schools)<br />

or to the father (in 41 schools);<br />

• a group of 62 schools (with attendance control performed<br />

by the teachers) which received a conditional transfer delivered<br />

either to the mother (in 32 schools) or to the father (in 30 schools);<br />

• a group of 61 schools (with attendance control performed by teachers and<br />

random checks by inspectors) receiving a conditional transfer delivered<br />

either to the mother (31 schools) or to the father (30 schools);<br />

• a group of 62 schools (with attendance control via biometric machinery)<br />

receiving a conditional transfer delivered either to the mother<br />

(31 schools) or to the father (31 schools). 3<br />

Conditionalities (if any)<br />

For the groups that received the conditional transfer, school attendance<br />

was required, with the maximum limit of absences set to four per month<br />

for primary students and six for secondary students. 3<br />
