Lipid Profile in Menopausal women of Different Parity and Basal Metabolic index

Background: Studies from different part of the world have reported the changes in
plasma lipid and lipoproteins cholesterol in post-menopausal women and its attendance
risk of cardiovascular disease. Many researchers are still gathering the contributing
factors to this condition. The research was carried out to evaluate some factors that may
contribute to the dyslipidemic lipid profile observed in post-menopausal women.
Methods: Analysis of fasting plasma cholesterol, lipoproteins and triglycerides were done
using standard spectrophotometric methods in eighty (80) post-menopausal women and
fifty (50) pre-menopausal women. Basal metabolic index were determine by measuring
their weight and height. Parity status of each subject was noted.
Results: Post-menopausal women lipid profile shows dyslipidemic picture compare with
