That word “eager” (“zealous” in some
translations) in the Greek is the same root word as
“hot” in Revelation 3.
So there is a complete harmony. Okay, with
this in mind I would like to make a statement,
because there is some confusion. You remember
that people will say that Abraham obeyed or kept
the statutes. All the Old Testament men who were
commended for their good works, were
commended because of their works of faith.
I’ll give you an example. Please turn to
Hebrews 11. You can say the same thing about
Noah but here’s a good example. Hebrews 11.
This is the chapter on faith. Look at verse 8:
By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place
he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed
and went, even though he did not know where he
was going.
