Philippians 3:9: [I want to] be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law [i.e., the works of the law], but that which is through faith in Christ — the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith. In other words, “I want Christ to live in me now that I’ve accepted Him as my Righteousness.” But now I want you to turn to 1 Corinthians 15 where Paul does deal with works of faith, but he doesn’t use that expression, but as you see it you will discover what he’s talking about. Verse 10: But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them — yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me. Have you got it? Paul is saying, “I worked more than all of them.” Of course, “them” refers to the Apostles. “I have worked more than the Apostles. But,” he says. <strong>The</strong>re’s a “but” there. But what? Yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me. “It was not I who was doing the work, it was God doing it in me. I was just an instrument.” So one difference is the origin. 145
