What kind of mind did Christ have? Okay, if
you read the rest of the verses, from 6-8, you will
discover that the mind of Christ was a mind that
was totally emptied of self. Look at verse 6:
Who, being in very nature God, did not
consider equality with God something to be
grasped...
By the way, the Greek word, “equality” in this
verse means the “absolute sameness” of God. So
here Paul is saying that He was one with the
Father, He was equal with the Father. So it was not
sin for Christ to make Himself equal with the
Father, ...“But” — there’s a “but” beginning in
verse 7:
...but made himself nothing, taking the very
nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.
The word kinosis here (“nothing”), means He
emptied Himself, He did not cling to that equality,
He totally emptied Himself, He gave up all His
