But in John 1:47, Jesus used the same word in<br />

an opposite sense: in terms of self-righteousness.<br />

If you read John 1:47, you will discover that Philip<br />

goes to his brother Nathanael, and do you know<br />

what he says to Nathanael? “I have found the<br />

Messiah!”<br />

“Where did you find Him?” asks Nathanael.<br />

“In Nazareth!”<br />

Do you know what Nathanael replied? “Can<br />

anything good come out of Nazareth?” (No, it<br />

can’t be. Nothing good can come out of Nazareth!<br />

He has the wrong lineage, the wrong birthplace.)<br />

Well, Philip did not argue. He said, “Come and<br />

see.”<br />
