ighteousness. Now I want to turn to the quotations from Ellen G. White. And I want to read three quotations. And I want you to notice how she identifies the Laodicean problem. You notice that she agrees with this exegesis. Your self-righteousness is nauseating to the Lord Jesus Christ. “I know your deeds, that thou art neither cold nor hot; I would that thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew thee out of My mouth. Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.” These words apply to the churches and to many of those in positions of trust in the work of God. So what is our problem? Self-righteousness. Next quotation: Self-righteousness is not the wedding garment... In fact, self-righteousness is the garment that one person was wearing, refusing the garment that was offered him. The bridegroom was offering him His garment, he says, “No, my suit is pretty clean. I don’t need your suit.” And Sister White says: Self-righteousness is not the wedding garment. A failure to follow the clear light of truth is our fearful danger. The message to the Laodicean church reveals our condition as a people. [RH 12- 15-04] What is our condition? Self-righteousness. Okay, let me give you one more quotation.
