Competitors who withdraw by 3pm on
Saturday, July 22 will be replaced by a reserve.
Competitors who withdraw after that point
will not be replaced. A reserve list for each
class will be published on oringen.se. In order
to be able to be moved up from the reserve
list, the runner must express interest in writing
to elit@oringen.se no later than 3pm on Saturday,
July 22. It is each competitor’s responsibility
to express their interest in being promoted
to an elite class.
Transport and parking
All vehicles traveling to O-Ringen’s competition
arenas must follow general traffic instructions
and follow all directions given by O-Ringen’s
traffic officials, as well as information provided
on oringen.se and in the program brochure. For
more detailed information, see the information
documents on travel and transport.
Bus transport to the arenas
Buses will travel from O-Ringen City to the
corresponding arenas during stages 1-4. The
bus schedule follows the competitors’ expected
start times and takes into account queues
no longer than 15 minutes. The heaviest load
of bus travelers is expected between 7:30am-
8:30am on the trip to the arenas and between
11:30am-1pm on the way back to O-Ringen
City. If you are able to travel outside of these
peak times, you will likely experience shorter
wait times. More detailed information about
bus transport and bus schedules can be found
in the travel information section of the program
brochure.
Car transport to the arenas
During stages 1-4 you can park at the arenas
for 20 SEK. A parking pass must be purchased
in advance via oringen.se or at Competitor
Services. A confirmation or registration number
must be displayed in the car’s windshield
at all times. Owners of vehicles that are found
not displaying a confirmation or registration
number will be fined 150 SEK. Carpool whenever
possible!
For stage 5, two different parking options are
available: red parking is located approximately
1000-2000 m from the arena. Its cost is included
in the registration fee. Blue parking is located
300 m from the arena and costs 150 SEK. A
confirmation or registration number must be
displayed in the car’s windshield at all times.
Note: You cannot pay for parking upon arrival;
a parking pass must be purchased in advance.
Bib numbers
A bib number is a competitor’s proof of start
and must be checked at the control station
before starting. Bib numbers can be picked
up at Competitor Services at O-Ringen City
until 9pm on Saturday, July 22. After that, bib
numbers must be picked up at the competition
arena. Competitors who lose their bib
numbers must purchase a new bib number at
Competitor Services.
Competitors racing in multi-day competitions
must use the same bib number during
each stage, with the exception of the first 15
starters for stage 5 in classes with chasing
starts. Those competitors pick up a new number
at the start. That number corresponds to
the competitor’s placing in the overall standings
in their class. Competitors who purchase
individual stage starts receive a new bib number
for each stare. For detailed information,
see further under the heading Competitor
Services.
GPS-units and tracking
The organizers have the right to distribute
GPS-units to any competitors in regular or elite
classes. The decision about which competitors
will carry GPS-units will be made the evening
before the race. For the selected competitors,
it is obligatory to carry GPS-units on the
course. All courses will be available for analysis
using the Livelox tool from 2pm on the competition
day, with the exception of stage 2 of
the Elite Tour (Elite sprint), which will be published
at 8pm on competition day.
Clothing and shoes
According to SOFT’s competition rules, all
competitors must wear full body covering
during their races. Clothing should not be torn
or have gaps. Socks/gaiters must be pulled
up during the entire race. Competitors are
responsible for following competition rules
regarding clothing when they come to the
start. Start officials have the right to deny start
to any competitor who does not follow these
rules. Self-service stations for taping clothing
and covering gaps are available at each start.
Shoes with full-length spikes are forbidden for
all stages. Breaking this rule leads to immediate
disqualification.
Maps
All maps were drawn between 2015-17 according
to ISOM2000 map standards and were
approved for Level 1 competition. The maps
are offset-printed and are placed in map cases.
Courses are overprinted in violet.
Contour interval is 5 meters on all maps. The
scale depends on the class and course. For detailed
information, see the section of Competition
Facts and Tables.
Any necessary last-minute map adjustments
will be shown at each start and in the
affected start chutes.
For classes Introduction, U1, and U2, extra
maps will be available for individuals interested
in shadowing competitors.
Classes and courses
Certain classes with expected high numbers
of competitors have been split. This applies to
classes H21 (H21-1 and H21-2), H45K (H45K-
1 and H45K-2), and H50 (H50-1 and H50-2).
Check the class you are registered for on
oringenonline.se.
Class and course data, as well as course
lengths, distance to the starts, scales, start locations,
etc. are presented in the section on
Competition Facts and Tables.
Terrain
Terrain descriptions are published together
with information for each stage.
Start
There are eight different starts. It is the competitor’s
responsibility to go to the correct
start. Information about which start corresponds
to which class, as well as distances to
the starts, is available in the section on Competition
Facts and Tables, as well as on each
competitor’s bib number.
All competitors must pass the control station
on the way to the start. Control stations
are located on the edges of the arena (see arena
maps for each stage). The following takes
place at the control stations:
• clearing your Punching Card;
• checking your Punching Card;
• self-check that the correct Punching Card is
being used. It is the competitor’s responsibility
to make sure that the Punching Card
being used is the same as the one registered
in O-Ringen’s competition system. The
competitor can do this by checking that
the number displayed in the SI unit at the
control station matches the Punching Card’s
number. If it does not match, the competitor
must go to the Red Start, where necessary
corrections can be made. The Red Start
is located next to the control station;
• check that you are wearing your bib number.
The Punching Card number that you have registered
can be checked at oringenonline.se.
You can change your Punching Card number
for free at any time at oringen.se/bytbricka.
The competitor is responsible for taking the
correct map. This can be done by checking
that the correct class name is printed on the
map. The class name is printed on the front of
the map. For those classes where the maps are
not shown until the start signal, the map container
has a lid with an open corner, where the
class name can be seen before the start. Competitors
in the Personal Program competitions
may be competing in a different class and on
a different course each day. It is the competitor’s
responsibility to pick up the map with the
correct course each day. The correct course for
each stage can be seen on oringenonline.se
and on the competitor’s bib number.
There will be no clothing return from the start
by the organizers.
Start methods
O-Ringen’s competitions allow four different
start methods, depending on class and competition
format. Detailed information about
the different start methods can be found in
the section “From registration to start”.
Assigned start times
Regular and Elite Tour classes have assigned
start times for stages 1-4. Classes DH10 also
have assigned start times for stage 5. Updated
start lists can be found at oringenonline.se.
Competitors will be permitted to start late up
to 30 minutes after their assigned start time
and must be done from a special start chute
marked “Sen start” / “Late start”. Race time will
be counted from the assigned start time.
Free interval starts
For short classes in the 5-Days competition,
stages 1-4 feature free interval starts. This
means that, when arriving at the start, each
competitor must select an available start time
by picking up a corresponding sticker and attaching
it to the bib numbers. The competitor
must then come up the start chute according
to the selected start times. Start intervals
within a given class are 1 minute. However, if
necessary, start officials can decide to shorten
the interval between starts within a particular
class. Start times are available between 8:30am
and 1:30pm.
The clock starts running when the competitor
punches the start. It is the competitor’s
responsibility to remember to punch the start.
Free starts
The Personal Program, Stage Start, Introduction
& Development, and Try-It-Out competitions
will have free start times for stages 1-5.
This means that the competitor can choose
when to start. No start interval will be observed.
The clock starts running when the
competitor punches the start. It is the competitor’s
responsibility to remember to punch
the start.
Chasing start
The Elite Tour and regular and short classes
running 5-Days will feature a chasing start for
stage 5. The exception to this are the HD10
classes, which will have assigned start times
for all five stages. A chasing start means that
the competitor with the lowest total time after
four stages starts first. Other competitors
in that class start later, with the start time determined
by their time difference to the class
leader’s total time. Competitors who are more
than 90 minutes behind the leader or do not
have a total four-day time start at the end of
the start field at 15-second intervals. The first
15 starters in each class that has a chasing start
must wear special bib numbers showing their
class and place in the class. These bib numbers
can be picked up at the stage 5 start.
