on the wind the family seemed to be happy, but<br />

the girls were missing their mother more than<br />

ever. It was hard for them to have to share with<br />

the other children and a new mother; but as time<br />

went by their thoughts drifted from their mother<br />

to focus on having a normal life.<br />

Daisy never found her children or John, in<br />

addition to this John never found out that Daisy<br />

was pregnant with his son, if he knew this thing’s<br />

may have been different.<br />

Eventually, John started his job in the pit and<br />

Betty’s job was to take peoples clothes in and<br />

iron them. John treated her to a new iron with<br />

electricity to heat it up and it was lighter than the<br />

cast iron one that she had previously been using.<br />

Betty didn’t enjoy her job and always seemed<br />

miserable. Betty wasn’t a very good mother<br />

to John’s children; her own children however<br />

always came first. She was very lazy, and she<br />

also flirted with countless men. Because of this<br />

John’s children felt neglected and May soon took<br />

over the motherly role to make her sibling feel<br />

loved.<br />

John had never seen this side of Betty as he<br />

worked hard long hours in the pit to provide for<br />

the family.<br />

As time went on, Bettys boys: Arnold and<br />

Sam and her daughter Pearl started to work in
