Chapter 11
56
Engagement
It was the morning of April’s 17 th Birthday and
William was extremely nervous about asking
April to marry him.
April went with her sister May to buy a new
dress as a birthday gift. April had found the
perfect dress and thanked her sister. Following
this, the two sisters went to a café for some lunch
and a chat before May had to return home. April
wished May a safe journey home and caught the
bus back home.
The bus stopped at the end of Aprils street. April
decided to visit her friend, Peggy, who lived on
the same street. They sat chatting whilst Peggy
styled April hair. April had to leave as it was
time for tea, she said her farewells to Peggy and
left. Once she had returned home, April rushed
upstairs and changed into her new dress. She
had just finished when William knocked on the
door…
As tea was laid on the table William stood up and
presented the chain to April. He put the chain
around April’s neck and asked her to marry him.
April was very surprised and joyful, she said yes!
