witnessing inappropriate workplace behaviours such as<br />
unlawful discrimination, bullying, harassment, sexual<br />
harassment, and vilification will be treated seriously,<br />
and will be investigated thoroughly and confidentially<br />
in accordance with <strong>Council</strong>’s Managing Workplace<br />
Complaints and Grievances Procedures.<br />
Victimisation will not be tolerated. If any employee<br />
who feels they are being treated poorly or victimised<br />
because of reporting a concern or for being involved<br />
in the investigation process should report this<br />
treatment immediately.<br />
Substantiated allegations of inappropriate workplace<br />
behaviours or victimisation will result in disciplinary action<br />
in accordance with <strong>Cardinia</strong> <strong>Shire</strong> <strong>Council</strong>’s Managing<br />
Conduct and Performance Policy.<br />
<strong>Council</strong> aims to ensure the most efficient and equitable<br />
use and development of the skills and talents of all staff<br />
within the organisation. To achieve this, <strong>Council</strong> will, in<br />
consultation with staff, develop strategies to ensure<br />
equality at all stages of employment, including recruitment,<br />
selection and appointment, promotion, training and all<br />
other terms and conditions of employment.<br />
All new <strong>Council</strong> staff complete induction training in<br />
workplace behaviours including equal opportunity,<br />
sexual harassment and bullying. Refresher training is<br />
coordinated for all staff every two years and <strong>Council</strong>lors<br />
also undertake this training.<br />
