As for ibn 'Umar (may <strong>Al</strong>lah be pleased with both <strong>of</strong> them)<br />
denial <strong>of</strong> the report that 'Isa is ruddish (in complexion). <strong>The</strong>n he<br />
is at variance with those who have also memorised the colour <strong>of</strong><br />
his complexion. Since both Abu Hurayrah (may <strong>Al</strong>lah be pleased<br />
with him) and ibn 'Abbas (may <strong>Al</strong>lah be pleased with both <strong>of</strong><br />
them) have narrated that he (may <strong>Al</strong>lah's peace and blessings be<br />
upon him) is <strong>of</strong> ruddish complexion.<br />
<strong>And</strong> as for him being straight-haired in one narration and curly<br />
haired in another and curly haired is opposite to being straight<br />
haired. <strong>The</strong>n to reconcile between these two (differences) is that,<br />
he is (actually) straight haired. As for him being described as<br />
curly haired then the intent behind - that is the curliness in his<br />
(bodily) hair - which is (due to) the combination <strong>of</strong> the flesh and<br />
its firmness, and not the hair <strong>of</strong> his head. 12<br />
