THE DAJJAL AND THE RETURN OF JESUS<br />
(in reality those who are) bare (<strong>of</strong> knowledge), in our age in which<br />
we are living in with the narrations explicitly indicating 'Isa (may<br />
<strong>Al</strong>lah's peace and blessing be upon him) descension at the end<br />
<strong>of</strong> time, before this worldly life comes to an end; either sometimes<br />
by false interpretation (<strong>of</strong> the narrations) which in itself<br />
entails denial <strong>of</strong> them, or by explicitly denying them another<br />
time. That is because they in reality do not believe in the unseen<br />
(ghqyb), or are not on the brink <strong>of</strong> believing (in the unseen).<br />
However, the narrations collectively are Mutawdtir in meaning<br />
and their meaning is known in the religion by necessity. So both<br />
denial and false interpretation (<strong>of</strong> the narrations) is <strong>of</strong> no avail to<br />
them.' 59<br />
Similarly, Shaykh Mul:iammad Nasr al-Din al-<strong>Al</strong>banI declares:<br />
'Know that the narrations about the <strong>Dajjal</strong> and the decension <strong>of</strong><br />
'Isa (may <strong>Al</strong>lah's peace and blessing be upon him) are Mutawdtir.<br />
It is wa;ib (obligatory) to have imdn in them. So do not be deceived<br />
by those who claim that they are ahad l:iadith. Since they<br />
are ignorant <strong>of</strong> this science, 60 there is none amongst them who<br />
has (closely) pursued their (various) route <strong>of</strong> transmission. If<br />
they had done so then they would have found them to be<br />
Mutawdtir, as is testified by the Imams <strong>of</strong> this (noble) science,<br />
like al-J:Iafi? ibn J:Iajr. It is truly regretful that some <strong>of</strong> them<br />
have the audacity to speak about that which is not from their<br />
(field <strong>of</strong>) specialization. Especially since the matter is about the<br />
religion and 'aqidah (creed).' 61<br />
