DAJJAL ARE TRUE EVENTS AND<br />
OCCURRENCES<br />
SOME OF THE MIRACULOUS FEATS, which the <strong>Dajjal</strong><br />
will perform, have already been mentioned in the discussion<br />
about his jitnah. <strong>The</strong>ses miraculous feats are true events<br />
(which he shall perform) and are not erroneous delusions or misrepresentations<br />
(<strong>of</strong> the truth), as some scholars claim. <strong>Ibn</strong> Kathlr<br />
has quoted both from <strong>Ibn</strong> Hazm and at-Tahawi, that they say<br />
whatever is with the <strong>Dajjal</strong> (by way <strong>of</strong> miraculous feats then it)<br />
has no reality. Similarly he has quoted from Abu '<strong>Al</strong>i al-Jaba'i, 1<br />
the Shaykh <strong>of</strong> the Mutazilah, 2 'it is not permitted for it to be real<br />
in this manner, lest the extra-ordinary feats <strong>of</strong> a magician resem-<br />

Mu'tazj!ah: This sect began at the start <strong>of</strong> the second century after the Hijrah.<br />
It was found by 'Amr ibn 'Ubayd and Wasil ibn 'Ata. This sect believes in the<br />
negation <strong>of</strong> <strong>Al</strong>lah's Attributes, calling it Tawl:iid! <strong>The</strong>y believe the Qur'an to be<br />
created, rebellion against the Muslim rulers to be correct and that the Muslims<br />
guilty <strong>of</strong> major sins, are in a position between Belief and disbelief and that they<br />
are destined to be in Hell-fire forever.<br />
