HIS NAME IS Safi, it is also said 'Abd-<strong>Al</strong>lah ibn (the son<br />
<strong>of</strong>) Sayyad or Sa'id. 1<br />
He was one <strong>of</strong> the Jews <strong>of</strong> Macllnah, and it was also said that<br />
he was one <strong>of</strong> the An~ar.<br />
He was young at the time when the Prophet (?i) came to<br />
Macllnah.<br />
<strong>Ibn</strong> Kathir has mentioned that he embraced Islam, and his son<br />
'Umara was from the leaders <strong>of</strong> the Tdbi'in, whom the likes <strong>of</strong><br />
Imam Malik narrated from and others (besides him). 2<br />
