AR 330 Intaglio Printmaking (1)<br />

A studio experience in printmaking’s most versatile technique. The course develops an<br />

individual’s competency conceptually and technically in collagraph, drypoint, ImagOn,<br />

soft-ground, hard-ground and aquatint etching. Prerequisite: AR 111 or AR 150.<br />

AR 331 Relief Printmaking (1)<br />

A studio experience in the oldest and one of the most expressive and direct printing<br />

processes. This course develops an individual’s competency conceptually and technically<br />

in woodcut, linoleum and other relief processes. Prerequisite: AR 111 or AR 150.<br />

AR 332 Screen Printing (1)<br />

A studio experience in printmaking’s youngest traditional technique, one made famous<br />

by the likes of Andy Warhol and Robert Rauschenberg. The course introduces students to<br />

water-based screen printing techniques including key-image, reduction, photo emulsion,<br />

color halftones, and monoprinting. Required projects are designed to develop individual<br />

competency on both conceptual and technical levels. Prerequisite: AR 111 or AR 150.<br />

AR 333 Digital Printmaking (1)<br />

A studio experience in printmaking’s newest technique. This course uses the computer as<br />

a tool to create and manipulate digital images, and explores contemporary and traditional<br />

printmaking techniques to produce printed editions of these digital images. The course<br />

develops an individual’s competency conceptually and technically in the use of digital<br />

technology to create prints in three traditional processes: woodcut, serigraphy, and photo<br />

etching. Prerequisite: AR 111 or AR 150.<br />

AR 334 Lithography (1)<br />

A studio experience in printmaking’s most mystical and scientific technique. The course<br />

develops an individual’s competency conceptually and technically in stone lithography.<br />

Prerequisite: AR 111 or AR 150.<br />

AR 353 Drawing and Beyond: Making Connections (1)<br />

An exploration of the relationship between drawing and all other areas of two- and threedimensional<br />

art. The course considers the drawings and subsequent work in painting,<br />

printmaking, sculpture, and photography of prominent artists such as Giacommetti,<br />

Twomby, Rembrandt, Oldenburg, Van Gogh, Christo, Diebenkorn, Hockney, Meyer,<br />

Sontag, Michals. Figure laboratory required. Prerequisite: AR 250.<br />

AR 354 Advanced Figure Drawing (1)<br />

An exploration of the anatomy and proportions of the human figure as it relates to the<br />

artist. Skeletal anatomy as well as the muscular anatomy and the body fat masses on the<br />

male and female body will be examined. Facial features and proportions will also be<br />

addressed with portraitures. Old Masters’ and contemporary artists’ work will be studied.<br />

Figure laboratory required. Prerequisite: AR 250.<br />

AR 355 Colored and Mixed Media (1)<br />

An exploration of both black and white and colored drawing media, as well as techniques<br />
