In the workplace of the future, conceptual awareness of and practical facility with
technology will continue to grow in importance. The major in applied computer science
provides graduates with an understanding not only of the fundamentals of coding and
building programs but also an informed appreciation for how technological change
intersects with legal, ethical, business, scientific, social, and cultural domains, and the
background to envision and champion new applications. Courses consist of foundational
concepts within the field of computer science coupled with an array of special topics
where computer science is applied.
