Provides knowledge of current trends and issues in teaching social science and social<br />
studies in grades 6-12 classroom settings. Teacher candidates will demonstrate<br />
knowledge of key concepts, generalizations, and methods of inquiry appropriate to the<br />
study of the target social science. Prerequisites: enrollment in ED 323 and admission to<br />
Teacher Education Program. Fall.<br />
ED 344 Methods for Teaching Visual Arts in Secondary Schools (¼)<br />
Provides knowledge of current trends and issues in teaching visual arts in grades 6-12<br />
classroom settings. Teacher candidates will demonstrate knowledge of teaching and<br />
learning theories related to art education, professional literature, methods, and materials<br />
of contemporary art education including technology, fiscal management of an art<br />
program, and the role, responsibilities, and impact of various educational and community<br />
agencies on art education. Prerequisites: enrollment in ED 323 and admission to Teacher<br />
Education Program. Fall.<br />
ED 345 Methods for Teaching Science in Secondary Schools (¼)<br />
Provides knowledge of current trends and issues in teaching science in grades 6-12<br />
classroom settings. Teacher candidates will show knowledge of and ability to create<br />
science lessons using multi-level strategies and methods including technology in the<br />
secondary classroom. Prerequisites: enrollment in ED 323 and admission to Teacher<br />
Education Program. Fall.<br />
ED 360 Methods and Materials for Teaching Students with Special Needs (1)<br />
A practical course on how to provide appropriate accommodations and modifications for<br />
instruction of children with special needs in a typical inclusive and/or non-typical<br />
classroom. Common areas of exceptionalities and assistive technology for grades K-6<br />
will be addressed. Laboratory required. A service-learning integrated course.<br />
Prerequisites: at least junior standing and admission to the Teacher Education Program.<br />

ED 410 Internship II (1½)<br />
Full-time teaching internship in grade K, 1, 2, or 3 for six weeks under supervision of a<br />
certified teacher and a college supervisor. Prerequisites: enrollment in ED 411 and<br />
admission to Teacher Education Program. Fall, Spring.<br />
ED 411 Internship III (1½)<br />
Full-time teaching internship in grade 4, 5, or 6 for six weeks under the supervision of a<br />
certified teacher and a college supervisor. Prerequisites: enrollment in ED 410 and<br />
