Taiwan Excellence always attracts a crowd at IFA
TAIWAN BUILDS DIGITAL
BRIDGES WITH AI
The Taiwan Excellence stand at IFA is a
supernova of future-focused ingenuity
The island nation of Taiwan, long punching above
its weight in the field of consumer electronics
innovation, is now using AI to bring existing
technologies into the future.
A revolutionary idea just
a few years back, AI is
now transforming our
everyday life and the way
we interact with technology,
Prof. Dr. JhyWey Shieh,
Representative of Taiwan,
Taipei Representative Office
in the Federal Republic
of Germany said, at the
Taiwan Excellence IFA press
conference. ‘’Taiwan has
always been at the forefront
of innovative developments
in the tech world, and this
hasn’t changed with AI,” he
said, adding that innovation is
in the Taiwan DNA as a means
to “break our isolation and
get in touch with the world
outside”.
Taiwan’s plans to become
the Silicon Valley of Asia is
quickly being realised, the
country attracting global
attention as an AI innovation
hub as Google, Microsoft and
Nvidia set up AI research
centers there. ‘’This year,
23 Taiwanese companies
are once again showcasing
fascinating new products
that will excite anyone with
an interest in the newest
AI developments and
technologies,” Shieh said.
AI is central to the
development of a new
generation of smart service
robots. While industrial
robots help improve
productivity in factories,
service robots interact with
humans more directly, which
means AI is helping them
recognise and reflect human
inputs such as speech or
gestures. Taiwan’s New Era
AI Robotic introduced its
latest service robot, equipped
with autonomous indoor
navigation, voice interaction
and facial recognition.
Designed for guiding clients,
real-time customer service
and mobile broadcasting,
the robot is suited to provide
service in hospitals, hotels,
banks, retail stores, airports
and more.
RelaJet, a Taiwanese startup
founded in 2018, shows
that AI can also help people
to communicate better. Its
R1898 hearing aid comprises
a powerful, AI-driven speech
and sound recognition engine
that importantly isolates
the voice of the person to
whom the wearer is speaking
in crowded situations. It
can distinguish between
different voices within only
10 milliseconds and is able to
divide and enhance them.
Meanwhile, Taiwan’s
HiMirror Mini Premium is
a “fem tech” smart beauty
mirror with intuitive touchscreen
navigation. In addition
to tailored skincare advice
and personalised product
recommendations based on
skin analysis data, HiMirror
is Amazon Alexa-enabled,
meaning it can also be asked
to check the weather, play
music or report the daily
news
