CDB 22/09 Update on CDB strategy Review 2009 (Attachment 9)<br />

The Chairperson invited Ms Maria Ferguson to update the Board.<br />

Ms Ferguson advised that the Board was requested to carry out a review of the CDB<br />

structures, strategi and process and present priorities for 2009 – 2012. Ms Ferguson<br />

noted that the review would build on the previous review conducted in 2005 and would<br />

highlight the most important achievements of the CDB to date in terms of strategy<br />

implementation and the work of the CDB in general.<br />

Ms Maria Ferguson advised that a draft document would be prepared by 9 th April 2009,<br />

and members would be given an opportunity to revert with any comments or<br />

observations. The CDB Review will be considered at the annual CDB Strategy Day on<br />

the 6 th May, at the Regional Cultural Centre, Letterkenny.<br />

CDB 23/09 Update on CDB Local Area Teams; report Islands LAT (Attachment 10)<br />

The Chairperson welcomed Mr Charles Sweeney to update the Board.<br />

Mr Charles Sweeney advised that three meetings of the Islands Local Area Team had<br />

been held to date, with a good participation by agencies. He further advised that a more<br />

detailed Plan outlining supports required from various agencies would be prepared and<br />

brought back to the June CDB meeting.<br />

CDB 24/09 Presentation from CDB Agricultural Forum<br />

The Chairperson welcomed Mr Tom O’Dwyer to make his presentation to the Board.<br />

Mr James O’Donnell welcomed the presentation and advised the Board that farmers<br />

were struggling to survive given the current cost of production, noting the difference<br />

between the unit price paid to farmers for produce and that paid by customers in the<br />

local shops. The lack of young people entering the sector and current wage structures<br />

were also raised.
