• Liam Kelly referred to action 5.2.3 and queried the availability of resources in terms<br />
of finance to carry out this work. Sean Staunton stated that he hoped that there<br />
would be funding available under the auspices of Social Policy in the Citizens<br />
Information Board to carry out this work.<br />
• Liam Kelly referred to action 5.2.4 and queried if the <strong>Council</strong> should be the lead in<br />
relation to this action. Anne Marie Conlon stated that the Social Inclusion Unit in<br />
<strong>Donegal</strong> <strong>County</strong> <strong>Council</strong> would be willing to co-ordinate this action but that it would<br />
be necessary for the various interested agencies to contribute to the cost of training.<br />
Having considered the plan, the Interagency Group on Traveller Issues endorsed this<br />
Strategic Plan on the proposal of Liam Kelly and seconded by Mary Surpless.<br />
4. Feedback on Priority <strong>Actions</strong><br />
• Tenant <strong>Part</strong>icipation Pilot Project<br />
Anne Marie Conlon referred to report from the subgroup set up to progress a pilot Tenant<br />
<strong>Part</strong>icipation Project and the contents of this report was noted. A discussion took place in<br />
relation to the lessons learned from the project and it was agreed that the lessons learned<br />
from the project should be applied to similar projects involving other families in the county.<br />
In this regard it was agreed that the group should look at documenting the lessons learned<br />
from this project and report back to the IAG.<br />
• Pavee Pathways<br />
Anne Marie Conlon referred to progress report from Pavee Pathways group and it was<br />
noted that it was proposed to launch this project shortly. A discussion took place<br />
regarding this issue and concern was expressed about launching project at this time given<br />
the increasing levels of unemployment and that the project could attract negative publicity.<br />
Following a detailed discussion it was agreed to proceed with launch.<br />
5. <strong>Donegal</strong> Peace III Action Plan<br />
Anne Marie Conlon referred to the <strong>Donegal</strong> Peace III Action Plan and to the action<br />
included in the plan regarding building better relationships between the Traveller and<br />
settled community. She noted that <strong>Donegal</strong> <strong>County</strong> <strong>Council</strong> were keen to develop a<br />
proposal under the auspices of the <strong>Donegal</strong> CDB Interagency Group on Traveller Issues to<br />
deliver upon this action. In this regard, it was recommended that a small subgroup should<br />
meet to discuss the development of this proposal. The following expressed their interest in<br />
participating in this group: Siobhan McLaughlin, Maire O’Leary and Liam Kelly via Fergus<br />
McAteer, Traveller Accommodation Officer. Gerry Davenport as stated that the Gardaí<br />
would be interested in participating.<br />
6. AOB<br />
Liam Kelly informed the group that <strong>Donegal</strong> <strong>County</strong> <strong>Council</strong> had adopted the new Traveller<br />
Accommodation Programme in February 2009.<br />
7. Date of next meeting<br />
It was agreed that the next meeting of this group would be 9 June 2009<br />
