Description of The conference aims to provide practical information, support and advice on issues<br />

activities & which have an impact on all aspects of children’s well‐being in modern society. The<br />

achievements to conference will focus on achieving best outcomes for children by encouraging<br />

and through the pooling of expertise in this area. Collectively and<br />

collaboratively, childcare<br />

services, parents, health professionals and childcare<br />

agen cies will be encouraged to build on their responsibility to safeguard and<br />

promote the holistic well‐being of children.<br />

Progress to date:<br />

• Oct‐Dec 2008 ‐ planning phase for the event including sourcing of venue,<br />

funding projections, initial contact with speakers<br />

• December 2008 – event accepted by OMCYA as part of the DCCC 2009<br />

Action Plan<br />

• Jan‐Feb 2009 ‐ conference partners invited to come on board<br />

• January 2009‐ three keynote speakers, exhibitors and information stands<br />

sourced and confirmed<br />

• Work commenced on publicity materials<br />

• March 2009 – 1500 conference<br />

brochures disseminated across the north<br />

west region<br />

• Beg. May 2009 – conference fully booked: 330 delegates,<br />

12 exhibitors and<br />

8 information stands.<br />

• Mid May – press releases and media coverage and final preparations.<br />

• Post event PR will be carried out mid‐late June 2009<br />

• A presentation will be made as a result of a voluntary contribution from<br />

delegates to the Special Olympics Ulster Regional Games<br />

• Video clips of the event<br />

will be uploaded to the DCCC website<br />

• A full conference<br />

report will be compiled and distributed to all conference<br />

partners and agencies.<br />
