5.2 Accommodation
Increase level of awareness
of Traveller culture and
cultural diversity in general.
Greater level of trust,
understanding and tolerance
between both communities.
Objective: To work in partnership with the relevant statutory agencies, DTP<
LTACC and Traveller families to deliver more suitable
accommodation to Travellers in Donegal
Rationale: Need to improve standard of temporary Traveller accommodation,
Travellers frustrated by bureaucratic system and not fulfilling promises.
Unacceptable behaviour towards Council staff . Existing standards in the
Department of the Environment represent the basic minimum standards
and do not adhere to any good practice guidelines. Through joint working
on the development of standards, relationships will be developed between
the CDB IAG and the LTACC. It is essential that frontline staff across
agencies are aware of existing and emerging government policy as it relates
to the Traveller community.
