THE TWO RESORTS ANANTARA VELI AND ANANTARA DHIGU
are located together with the private island Naladhu (report in our issue #16)
in the South Male Atoll. It is especially advantageous that guests of both resorts
can also use the facilities of the other islands. The islands are within swimming
distance of each other - but don't worry, there are also boats that will take
you to the other shore if, for example, you want to dine in the restaurants on
another island. In a total of five restaurants with Japanese, Italian, Thai and
international cuisine you can enjoy culinary delights and I can already tell you:
you are spoilt for choice, because one is better than the other.
Anantara Veli is the perfect place for couples looking for togetherness and
relaxation. In order not to disturb the peace of this island, Anantara Veli is
reserved exclusively for adults. It is one of the few resorts only for adults in
the Maldives. The sister resort Anantara Dhigu, on the other hand, is more
oriented towards families and has, among other things, a Kids Club, a badminton
and volleyball court, a water sports center, a PADI diving center and
a surf school. Anantara Dhigu also has a 1,500 m² overwater spa.
In Anantara Dhigu you can stay in beach villas, some with private pool, as
well as in over-water suites, also with private pool. Anantara Veli has exclusively
bungalows above the water with pool. Both islands also have an infinity
pool and a fitness center.
Due to the wide offer of the surf school of Tropicsurf both for beginners
and advanced surfers, a surf vacation on both islands is ideal. Experienced
surfers are attracted to the left reef break, which is located directly in front
of the pool bar of Anantara Veli. Only 10 minutes away is one of the best
wave beaches of the Maldives, the surf break "Boatyards". Of course there
are also own surf excursions with the speedboat. By the way, the best surfing
conditions can be found in the months from April to October.
If you are not a fan of waves, you can also borrow a stand-up paddle or a
kayak and paddle over to the private snorkel and picnic island. Furthermore,
there is a wide range of excursion possibilities. My absolute highlight was
swimming with dolphins, a unique and unforgettable experience! If you listen
carefully, you can even hear them singing.

I also found it remarkable that Anantara has introduced a coral adoption
program as part of its commitment to environmental protection. Guests are
invited to participate in this long-term project by planting corals in the reef
nursery and follow the growth with photo updates or by revisiting the nursery.
I especially liked the weekly get-togethers at sunset, great drinks and snacks
on the beach of Anantara Dhigu, where, among other things, the surf, spa
and culinary offerings are presented and to which, of course, the guests of the
other islands are also invited.
